Kula, Upcounty Maui. This is breathtaking land. Up from the beaches with views for miles. Welcome to Upcountry Lifestyle. One of the most desirable places here is a subdivision called “Kulamanu”. Meaning a “gathering place” in Hawaiian. You can see why, this land is gorgeous.
Kulamanu is perfectly situated on the northwestern face of Mt. Haleakala, at elevation that ranges from approx 2400-3000 ft above sea level. Kulamanu covers approx. 52 acres with a total of 110 Lots.
There are series of gulches with the most prominent one called Pohakuokala Gulch, which runs through this neighborhood offering varied topography and privacy. There is a grassy park for residents. The terrain lends itself to great walking and exploring. Apparently there are petroglyphs down in that area. I have yet to check it but look forward to doing so!
There are two areas that make up Kulamanu; Kulamanu Estates and Kulamanu Ridge with a total of 110 lots.
Jacaranda Grove is part of Kulamanu Estates. The name is self explanatory, as it it lined with gorgeous shower trees with purple flowers (call Jacaranda) in spring to early summer.
Jacaranda Grove lots are larger then then the rest of the subdivision. They average around half an acre. One of the premier homes currently for sale is 82 Kulamanu Place. You can see info here www.82Kulamanu.com. This home boasts over 3100 SF interiors and is set on a prime lot with spectacular bi-coastal views! On a clear day one can see 5 Islands (including West Maui). One of the most private lots at Kulamanu. Stand in your main living room and kitchen and all you see is ocean and mountain. There are homes that have cost over 2 Million to just build in this neighborhood but they rarely come up for sale. It is not too deep into Kula so the location is ideal as it is not a far drive to schools and town.

Kulamanu Estates was developed and offered for sale in mid to late 1990s. Most homes in Kulamanu Estates were built between the late 1990s and mid 2000s.
The lots here have been thoughtfully planned and laid out. Taking advantage of the upcountry Maui terrain; many of lots and homes were designed to maximize the views. Of course some lots are more view oriented than others and prices typically reflect that. There still a few (not many) resale lots available. Call me for details.
Why is Kulamanu so special? It is all about the views and the elevation. It is one of the best subdivision that offer ocean views. The CC&R’s are thoughtfully designed to create a nice aesthetic. The elevation being 3000 and under but above 2000 makes it ideal. You are below the cloud line and the temperature during the day averages around 70-82 degrees depending on the month. It’s no wonder why it is considered one the best climates in the world! Annual rainfall averages about 35 inches. Not too dry and not too wet…just perfect!
