Maui County Property Tax rates are one of the lowest in the United States for owner-occupants. Owner occupant (home) exemptions are not automatic. You must apply and get approved. Here is the current application for the Homeowners Exemption (please note that form changes so make sure you are using the most current one). Click here for current one for year 2020. You must apply before December 31, 2020 to be considered and hopefully approved for the next Property tax period. Please check on the form for the guidelines and needed documents. Properties get assessed every fiscal year. Should you not agree with your assessment, you can appeal. It does have rules which you can find here, click here.
